Six MOVA teams descended on the ESVBC Ice Breaker tournament in Peoria IL Dec. 29 / 30.  MOVA came away with:

  • 2nd and 3rd in the 15s/16s division
  • 1st and 2nd in the 17s/18s division
  • 5 of 6 teams with winning records

This team, parents, and coaches all had a great time bonding and playing volleyball in Peoria this weekend. We had a lot of players playing different positions than what they are used to. They all pulled together as a team to work hard and put up some great fights against mostly 16s teams. Even through they were playing some girls who were older than them, most matches were very close. This group was already shown so much growth and it's only the first tournament. The coaches are very excited to see what these girls will accomplish this season.

What a great way to end 2018. The girls really bonded and played together as a team this weekend. I couldn't be more proud of these girls. The cards weren't in our favor and we fell one set short and took 2nd place at the ESVBC Ice Breaker tournament. This being our first tournament of the season, there was a lot of positives to take away and we will learn from this experience.  This team is made up of a close group of girls who really have a drive to be great and this tournament was just the beginning.

Such a fun weekend in Peoria, for bonding, learning experience and life lesson for all.  I'm so proud of MOVA 15 gold Took third place in the icebreaker tournament.    One step at a time and this team will grow to succeed and compete in the top five.    As a team they saw their highs and lows and altogether was able to finish strong at the end.

What a weekend! This is the first tournament the girls have ever played together. They played with determination, unity and heart. Though we didn't win every game, it was a success in having the opportunity to see what we need to work on for the season. So much progress was made in the two days. The parents were an amazing support and the girls accepted each challenge with the goal to overcome what came their way. They pulled it out in the end with a win for the final game. What a great start to the season!

17 Gold

Despite a slow start on Saturday, 17 Gold quickly stepped up their game and ended up taking 1st in the 17/18 bracket, just barely edging out MOVA 18 Gold. It could have easily gone either way between the 17s and 18s, what a match! It was great to see the 17 Gold team gel together and continue the momentum from last season.

18 Gold

Overall the team played really well the whole weekend. We have learn a lot from this tournament. Seeing the team play as a team as a one unit was a great to watch. It didn't matter if they were on the court or in the sideline seeing the excitement of their faces was amazing. We didn't get the result that we wanted but the goal was to have a great tournament, play as team, be as a one unit, and enjoy the game that we love. The team is very excited for next weekend.
