MOVA UA 18 Gold

The last out of town volleyball tournament Rocking Rockford AAU Super Regional and they decided go out with a BANG by earning a BID to AAU Nationals!!! “Last Year, Best Year”, is the motto for MOVA 18 Gold girls on their last season. It was a bittersweet ending for their last out of town trip. The girls played as a team, with determination and to leave with no regrets. It was very emotional for the coaches, players and parents after winning the last point. They have been patiently waiting for the day they earned their bid and they got it. Big smiles, lots of happy tears, hugs all around, memories made and most of all we all had fun. I love these girls and their family. They will always be a part of the MOVA family. Now they venture off on their own to fulfill their dreams.

Good luck girls! You will be missed and always know we love you all! God Bless

Ohio Valley Region Qualifier - 18 Gold

As we all know the Club/Select season for the Women is underway, and 2020, for 18's is a Big Year.  MOVA is fortunate to have a team among its "Squad/Club" that is the definition of ...MOVA-MADE....the Women of 18G!!

This team, who the better part of has played together since they were 12's, has shown when they Go After It on the court, it is apparent!!

Case in point, the 18G Women's Team traveled to Columbus Ohio (Ohio Valley Region Qualifier - OVR) and ...Made Their Presence Known, Yet...Again!!

These ladies "Jumped Up" early on the first day, establishing their strong mental approach, and high level of play, and didn't allow for any "breathing room" thus  commanding a 3-0 record day one, and into the first match of day two..

On that second day,18G started out firing on all cylinders, winning their first match of the day (thus the previous mentioned 3-0) then after, hit their first adversity, loosing a tight match to a "Gamer Team - Southwest 18 Elite" .

In the next match, they faced one of the teams in that same "boat" with them, Buckeyefire 18R Spilker. This match was block for block, swing for swing, dig for dig, on every point, both teams not wanting to give an inch, and in a very HARD FOUGHT MATCH, 18GW were out lasted, by....2 points...in BOTH SETS!!

In the STYLE of which this team has established, they "Shook It,  Rose Up" and came back STRONG on the third day, wining their match, Decisively, to finish on a High Note defeating a strong Ballyhoo 18N Black team, completing their weekend... {10th} OVER ALL!!

" This MOVA team has what it takes. They play at a high level, and with every set played, get Stronger." "Watch Out for this team ....THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT!!" Coach Christopher said.

" This team plays with determination, tenacity, and heart. With it being 18's and them being with MOVA since they were 13's, it is bitter-sweet, but I am VERY PROUD of them. Not just of the players they have become, but the Young Women they are!!"  "Gonna miss them, but, we have more in store"  the Director of MOVA/Coach Lil said.....And I tend to agree with both of them...The Sky is the Limit for this team, and I, as well as the rest of the volleyball world, are looking forward to... Hearing More From the, Women of ...MOVA, 18G!!

MOVA-MADE, MOVA STRONG, ...We ...Are...MOVA!!

Southwest Boys Classic (Dallas TX) MOVA Men

Three of our Men's Teams traveled to Dallas Texas to participate in the Southwest Boys  Classic Qualifier Tournament.  Once again, MOVA was represented very well, as all three teams played some very high level volleyball, which has come to be expected by those in the volleyball world.

17 Gold  - Using their size up front to block, some timely hitting from both pins, and steady back row ball control,  17G  proved to be a team that the opposing teams, had to bring some of their best play to beat! Through the whole weekend of play, it is clear that they are getting more comfortable every time they play...and the proof...they fished 4th overall (Gold Bracket).  Well done Gentlemen, in both how you finished, and also being one of the top 17's teams out there!!

18 Black - Lets just say, that the 18's age bracket on the Men's side has two strong representative teams.  18B  proved that in their play the entire weekend. Continuing there highly competitiveness from the weekend prior, with a couple of adjustments, and keeping that "flow" in their play, these gentlemen were someone nobody wanted to play. If there is ever a team that lives by the idea, every point matters, it is 18B, by their average points per loss being 3 points, and 4 sets, by 2. Their competitiveness was shown by their over all finish,  6th! Gentlemen....RESPECT!  (Oh, I should mention that two of the teams from their pool, went on to finish 3rd, and the other the overall WINNER of the 18's bracket. 18B loosing to those teams by 5, 4, 2 (OT) and ...2 (respectfully), again...RESPECT!!

18 Gold - If you didn't already know......GOT THEIR BID!!!!! How did they do it?  By going to 6-2 for the tournament.  Winning the first 4 matches they played in a convincing fashion, and there first loss, by...2, twice!  By, having exceptional overall play, serving, defense, blocking, and running a very effective offense!!  This team is a FORCE...PERIOD and they showed it.  "They are a 2 down, then come back team" Coach RJ said, "That can turn it on when it counts, and get it done!" and they did exactly that, finishing as the 18's Tournament Runner Up, (2nd Over All) loosing a hard fought 3 setter, in the championship match.  WELL DONE FELLAS on some STELLAR VOLLEYBALL.  ( just another note...remember that the team that won it all came from 18B's pool, of which they lost a close match to, and the other one I mentioned, 18G beat for the BID)

Lil, MOVA Club Director said:  " I am so very proud of each and everyone for their great performance, and the unity shown by both players and coaches through the entire weekend...MOVA-MADE, MOVA STRONG!!"

Enough Said!!

Winter Volleyball Championships in Chicago IL. 2020

Missouri Volleyball Academy (MOVA), once again showed its Continued Growth and Potential at this years 2020 Boys (18's Girls) Winter Volleyball Championships in Chicago IL.

Four of MOVA's 20 teams attended the Championships and reinforced that " MOVA-MADE" means HIGHLY competitive Volleyball!!

First up, 18 Gold Girls.  These incredible young women, of whom most of them have played together since they were (12s), established from the opening whistle, their Dominance on the volleyball court, in their play/communication, as well as there (VB IQ), along with a veteran coaching staff, they went 2-1 Day 1.

Day two, due to there accomplishments the first day, saw stiffer competition, despite that, they played very HIGH LEVEL VOLLEYBALL, and found themselves still in the (GOLD) bracket.

The first match was a very competitive one, with a back and forth flow to the points being scored between MOVA 18G Girls & Fierce Elite 18 Adidas, with MOVA coming out on top the first set, 25-16.  In the second, again, back and forth, the momentum shifted, and with that, Fierce 18 held off MOVA 18 by a slim margin, 22-25. Set 3, for those that were not there to witness it, the play was the definition of ...VOLLEYBAL-STRONG... by both sides, very closely played,  with Fierce 18 squeaking by, 12-15.

The next match, was with a strong Capital 18 Navy team and MOVA 18G Girls prevailed wining in 2 sets. Then 18G Girls played a feisty Fusion 18 Silver team, losing in two highly contested sets.

Day 3 , MOVA 18G Girls, had to play a team for a second time, Capital 18 Navy. After dropping the first set close, 19-25, they RALLIED back to take the second, 25-18. The third set showed two very determined teams battling, with MOVA falling just short by the score of 12-15....again.  I can honestly say that this team's story is still being written, stay tuned as BIG THINGS are still in store for this group...by the way, they finished in the (Top 20) over all..... 17th!! ...Well done!!

Next Up, 18 Gold Boys. Let me start by saying this team is a FORCE, not just in size, but in ability of play!! The testament to that fact, is them going 5-0 in combination of the first 5 matches played Day 1 and first two matches of Day 2, only having to play three sets .....ONCE...  See, I told ya!!

So with that said, that takes us to the third match day 2. In this one, MOVA played a mirror image of itself, a Good Sized, well skilled RUSH 18 Red team from AZ, loosing there first match of the weekend  in two highly contested sets, of witch the second went into "overtime" to be decided.  MOVA 18Gold Boys then had one of two crossover matches, playing a Gateway Rival, in HPSTL B18 White, winning that match smoothly in two straight sets.  Now on to the second crossover match, and,  who do they have face, but only to "look in the mirror" yet again, and face that team from AZ, Rush 18 Red.  MOVA struck first, wining the first set 25-19, then losing the second set, as closely as one can, 23-25.  The third, was a SLUGFEST...PERIOD... with both teams, Banging, Blocking, and Serving at a High Clip, and when the "dust settled" Rush survived a Thriller...11-15.....oh, and did I mention this match was for ...A, BID....so when I say Thriller, I mean....THRILLER!! (Eye-Witness)

Day 3, a very VALIANT 18G Boys team played their first match using all they had left in the tank, from the BATTLE ROYAL they had played in their last one, to fall in 2 sets, that could have gone either way for much of it. Over all they finished, 12TH out of 48 teams.

All and all, this team was "knocking on the door" and it is believed that in the next few weeks, with health holding up, will have a chance again to not just...knock, but "Kick it in!!"  Great Luck Gentlemen!!

There were two more teams that "Put in Serious Work" in Chicago.  18 Black and 17 Gold. These two teams, grew in overall volleyball knowledge (vb IQ), consistency, and over all level of play.

17G, pushed 3 sets, 3 times and Won another in straight sets (2). Their upside is very strong as, half of the team is new to the team, they are having to "Gel" fast..and with that, they are growing there game, not only individually, but also as a team.  Future is bright, and we are looking forward to seeing that light get brighter and brighter!!  Respect Gentlemen and Coaches.

For 18B, also who has about 50% new players on a (18's) team, have had to push to Gel quickly.  Real-Time growth also shows in their play. Pushed three sets in two matches, winning the first set in one, and the second set in the other, and that one was their final match of the weekend. They showed true fight, loosing sets by an average of no more than 6 points over three days. With that said, all the Seniors on this team have a potential to play college level volleyball and are being recruited or are already committed, and the others that are underclassmen, will be back next season for another shot. So to both 17G and 18B, "Hats off to you!!"  Your valiant efforts, are the building blocks of your volleyball future. We are looking forward, to that FUTURE!!

MOVA...simply put, is the #2 CLUB IN THE GATEWAY REGION IN BOTH GIRLS AND BOYS VOLLEYBALL, and in Chicago.....We Showed it!!

MOVA UA BOYS 18 GOLD EARNED A BID FOR NATIONALS IN DALLAS TX IN JUNE 2019

3RD YEAR BOYS PROGRAM MAKES THEIR MARK NATIONALLY

Family, loyalty, Trust and Friendship is what this group of young men showed in the past 3 years with the program. God is the one that brings things together and we believe that  he had plans for these boys from the beginning of the journey with Mova . " I am very proud of these boys who believed in our vision from day one along with their parents . I know it wasn't always easy with other bigger and established programs who were recruiting them and trying to break down what they were trying to do. I really can't say much of what these boys mean to me they will always have a special place in my heart ". said coach Sone. "From day one Joey and I said we wanted this team to be number 1 . After being so close after the first bid tournament in Chicago you could tell the team was determined. Knowing this was the last chance for them Joey and I noticed that this was some of the best volleyball the boys have played. It was hard leading up to the final match but we are proud at the progress they made after the first tournament and they definitely deserve this." Says Coach RJ . " We are all very proud of the boys. we had a collective goal in mind for this season, and with our backs against the wall we were able to accomplish it. We are excited to get to work this summer to finish what we started back in October." Says Coach Joey." Congratulations Mova UA Gold 18 Boys for believing and fighting  in creating your own way and not being followers but making your own history .It means so much to us all here at Mova "Says coach Lil.
